Spain, Mexico and the Netherlands leading Horticulture exporters

Last Year, The Netherlands exported 4.6 billion kilos of fresh vegetables for an amount of 4.2 billion euro’s. This made the Netherlands, for the fourth time in a row, the largest exporter of fresh vegetables. Mexico ranks in so doing number too. Nevertheless according to statistics of a Dutch agency -productschap tuinbouw-, the difference with Mexico is diminishing. Last year the Mexican export of fresh vegetables grew with 15 percent while the Dutch export of fresh vegetables rose with 7 percent.

Spain, China and the United States are after The Netherlands and Mexico, the largest exporters of fresh vegetables. The main importers of fresh vegetables are the United States, Germany, and Russia.

Last year’s total amount of fresh fruit export accounted for 62.3 billion kilo. With her 5.9 billion kilo, Spain is the largest exporter of fresh fruit. Ecuador and the United States are after Spain, the largest exporters of fresh fruit. The main importers of fresh fruit are Russia, Germany and China.
